I have a question about how to download archive file from an embed link. For example:

https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=BAD2B9A17ABA3868&resid=BAD2B9A17ABA3868!4028&authkey=ACt-KC1FGp585k4

When I click this link, the webpage displays a preview of files inside the archive, but where is the download button?

I've tried removing "embed" from the link or changing it to "download", but it didn't work. How do I actually download it?

Thanks for sharing the details, ink! OneDrive embed links deliberately remove the download option. But you can still force OneDrive to give you a direct download link using this method:

Works for ZIP/RAR/7z and Any File Type

Change the embed link into a download link using download=1

    Take your original embed link:

    https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=BAD2B9A17AB...&resid=BAD2B9A17AB...&authkey=...

Replace “embed” with “download”, and append &download=1 if missing:

    https://onedrive.live.com/download?cid=BAD2B9A17AB...&resid=BAD2B9A17AB...&authkey=...&download=1

This forces OneDrive to skip the preview and start the file download.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly

To download a file from OneDrive using an embed link, you typically need to access the original file rather than the embedded preview. The embed link is designed primarily for viewing, and it may not provide a direct download option.

Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Check for a Download Option: When viewing the embedded file, look for any download buttons or options within the preview interface. Sometimes, there might be a menu or icon that allows you to download the file directly.
    2. Access the Original File: Instead of using the embed link, try to access the original file link. You can do this by navigating to OneDrive or the location where the file is stored and finding the file directly. Once you have the original link, you can download it from there.
    3. Use the OneDrive Interface: If you have access to the OneDrive account where the file is stored, log in and navigate to the file. From there, you should see an option to download the file directly.

If these steps do not work, it may be necessary to contact the owner of the file for assistance or to ensure that the file permissions allow for downloading.

Thanks for your reply! When I tried to use this link, it displayed "This item may not exist or is no longer available" or "Sorry, something is wrong"

This could also be because the shared link itself is offline, although I don't know why the file preview is still working. Anyway, I've requested a new working link from the uploader. Thanks again for your help!

Finally, I found a solution: simply remove "embed" from the URL and change "resid" to "id", and you can view and download normally:

    https://onedrive.live.com/?id=BAD2B9A17ABA3868!5680&cid=BAD2B9A17ABA3868&authkey=!ALleNRBWWdiuSf4
