Hello Giri Dhaneswara,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
What you’re experiencing with the Surface Pro 13 and Surface Pro Keyboard sometimes happens if the keyboard’s connector or firmware doesn’t reinitialize properly after long sleep or shutdown periods. Here's something you should check out:
1 - Update Surface firmware and drivers
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install everything.
- In the same page, click Advanced options > Download available Optional updates
- Check out the official Surface page for latest drivers and firmware packages (if any).
2 - Reinstall the keyboard driver
- Right-click Start logo > Select and open Device Manager
- Click View in the top bar > Check Show hidden devices
- Look for
Surface Type Cover/Keyboard/similar, often under:
- Keyboards
- Surface Type Cover Filter Device
- Human Interface Devices
- Right-click your keyboard > Update driver > let it auto-search
- If it doesn't work, choose Uninstall device instead > Restart your Surface
- Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device if available
- Reattach your keyboard and test its behavior.
3 - Change Power Saving option
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode
- Set to Best performance to test (or another if already at Best performance)
- Press Win + R > type
control > press Enter to open Control Panel
- In Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings
- Check if there's a USB settings option > set USB selective suspend to Disabled
- Save the changes and restart your Surface > test the keyboard
4 - Change to Hibernate instead of Sleep (workaround)
- In the Power & battery section in Settings > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts
- Change all options for Make my device sleep after to Never
- Change all Lid, power & sleep button controls to Hibernate
- In Control Panel Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable > Check Hibernate
Now you can manually select Hibernate from the Start menu, or close the lid to enter Hibernate mode instead of Sleep. Check if the keyboard still gets disconnected in this mode.
If none of the above software solutions work, there might be a faulty keyboard connector or the keyboard itself is defective. If possible, you should test with another Surface (keyboard/device). If it's a hardware fault, consider repair/replacement if under warranty.
