Delete autofill suggestions

You can manually delete specific entries or do it programmatically.

To do this manually, open regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search\History. Each entry is usually a GUID or encoded string. You can click each entry, double-click Value, and see the URL or search term. Right-click the ones you want to remove and select Delete.

To do this programmatically via PowerShell:

$historyPath = "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search\History"
$entries = Get-ItemProperty -Path $historyPath

foreach ($entry in $entries.PSObject.Properties) {
    if ($entry.Value -like "*example.com*") {
        Remove-ItemProperty -Path $historyPath -Name $entry.Name
    }
}

Stop-Process -Name "SearchUI" -Force

Replace example.com with the site or keyword you want to remove. This will delete only the matching search entries and refresh the search box immediately.

I gather this functionality has changed. It appears that you have the option of clearing this list but not selectively. More at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/4202351/deleting-recent-items-from-windows-search
