Spoke with dodo technical service and they checked the incoming mail server and port and then outgoing mail server and port all is OK their end. They indicated I needed to go back Microsoft/outlook to solve the problem. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem.

To resolve the issue of not being able to find the incoming POP server when adding your Dodo email to Outlook, you can follow these steps:

    1. Verify Server Settings: Ensure that you are using the correct incoming mail server settings provided by Dodo. This includes the server address and port number. Typically, for POP3, the server address might look something like pop.dodo.com.au and the port is usually 110 or 995 for SSL.
    2. Check Email Account Configuration: In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Select your Dodo email account and click on Change. Verify that the incoming server settings are correctly entered.
    3. Enable Authentication: Make sure that the option to log on to the incoming server before sending mail is enabled. This can be done by checking the settings in the account configuration.
    4. Repair the Email Account: If the settings are correct but the issue persists, you can try repairing your email account in Outlook. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, select your account, and click on Repair.
    5. Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block Outlook from connecting to the mail server. Check your security software settings to ensure that Outlook is allowed to connect to the internet.
    6. Test Connectivity: You can use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to troubleshoot connectivity issues with Outlook. This tool can help identify problems with your email setup.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, consider reaching out to Dodo support again to confirm that there are no additional settings or restrictions on their end that may be affecting your connection.

    Hello Paul Hammond,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum and for providing that screenshot and the details regarding your conversation with Dodo support. This additional context is very helpful.

It appears that the automatic setup is running into an incident when trying to identify the correct server details. To resolve this, we should bypass the modern interface and use the classic control panel to manually force the connection.

Here are the steps to configure this correctly.

    1. Open the Classic Mail Setup

    • Close Outlook completely.
    • Click your Windows Start button and type "Control Panel". Click to open it.
    • In the Control Panel, look for an icon named Mail (Microsoft Outlook).(Note: If you don't see it, change the "View by" option in the top right corner to "Small icons".)
    • Click Email Accounts...
    • Under the "Email" tab, click New...

    2. Manual Configuration

    • Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.
    • Select POP or IMAP and click Next.
    • Fill in your User Information (Your Name and Dodo Email Address).
    • Fill in the Server Information exactly as follows:
      • Account Type: POP3
      • Incoming mail server: pop.dodo.com.au
      • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.dodo.com.au
      • Fill in your Logon Information (Your full email address and password).

    3. Crucial Advanced Settings: This is usually where the error hides, as the default settings often don't match Dodo's requirements.

    • Before clicking Next, click the More Settings... button in the bottom right.
    • Go to the Outgoing Server tab.
      • Check the box: "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
        • Ensure "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
    • Go to the Advanced tab. Verify the ports are set as follows:
    • Incoming server (POP3): 110
      • Outgoing server (SMTP): 25 (If 25 fails later, try 587).
      • Encrypted connection: None (or uncheck "This server requires an encrypted connection").
      • Click OK, then Next.

Outlook will now test the settings. By doing it this way, we manually force Outlook to accept the Dodo server details without it trying to guess and failing.

I hope these steps help you get your email connected successfully. Feel free to let us know the results, and I’ll be happy to guide you further if you run into any other errors.
