How to block "Activities" channel in MS TEAMS?

When I receive a message or missed call on TEAMS I see the coloured TEAMS icon on my tool bar with number of actions. I take out missed call or respond to message, but Icon still is coloured and show number of "open actions". That come from channel "Activities" - THIS IS FRUSTRATED!!! I see, that this app cannot be deleted, but how to switch it off, classic settings in TEAMS do not provide an option "off activity".

Actions showed are duplicated and it is very annoing. If this is necessariry for TEAMS functionality, please run it in the background.

Currently, Microsoft Teams does not provide an option to completely disable or block the "Activities" channel. The Activities feed is designed to keep users informed about missed calls, messages, and other notifications. While you cannot turn off the Activities channel, you can manage your notifications to reduce the number of alerts you receive.

Here are a few steps you can take to manage notifications in Teams:

    1. Adjust Notification Settings: Go to your profile picture at the top right of Teams, select Settings, then Notifications. Here, you can customize how you receive notifications for messages, mentions, and other activities.
    2. Mark as Read: Regularly check the Activities feed and mark notifications as read to clear them out. This won't stop the notifications but will help in managing the clutter.
    3. Use Do Not Disturb: If you need a break from notifications, you can set your status to Do Not Disturb. This will silence notifications temporarily.

If the Activities feed continues to be a source of frustration, consider providing feedback to Microsoft through the Teams app, as user feedback can influence future updates and features.

Notifications for missed calls, messages are helful, but "Activity" channel duplicate it. I need to mark as "Read" twice, for what reason? That I like to avoid.

Function "Do Not Disturb" doesn't solve the problem, it can only cut me from information at all.

I don't wat to have duplicated notifications, please separate it for notifications for calls, messages, meetings, etc., no need to have it on top in "Activities".

    Hello @Nosko, Pawel,

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

After carefully reviewing your comments, including the suggestions of Q&A assistance provided earlier, I understand that you fully understand the purpose of the Activity feed and your main concern is simply to avoid having the Activity feed repeat information that already exists elsewhere.

I have taken time to research; I can confirm that at this time Microsoft Teams currently does not provide an option to disable the Activity feed or run it silently in the background. The duplication happens because Activity is designed as a central hub for all actions.

However, I agree with your feedback. This is a valid usability concern, and I believe the development team should consider adding a feature to toggle Activity or allow it to run silently to avoid redundant notifications.

Since this forum is primarily for technical Q&A, I encourage you to raise this suggestion directly through the through the Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub
