As you can see in the email, they created an organization with a ridiculous team name for scamming purposes and added me to it as a guest without my consent. Even though I didn’t accept it, I can’t leave either. How can I resolve this?

    Hi,

This is April, I'll be happy to assist you. Sorry to hear that you're having issue with Microsoft Teams. Let me help you out.

Based on the description of the issue you provided, scammers created a fake Microsoft Teams organization and added you as a guest without your consent. The tenant shows up in your Teams account, but you can't leave it or remove yourself.

When you try to leave the malicious Teams organization, do you see the "Leave organization" option under your account settings or is it completely missing?

This issue happens because Teams lets external organization invite users as guests. Sometimes, the tenant shows up in your list even if you didn't accept. Scammers exploit this by creating fake tenants with misleading names to trick or harass users. Security experts note that your home organization's protections don't apply when you're added as a guest in another tenant.

    Steps to Resolve:

    1. Check Teams Settings
      • Open Teams (desktop or web)
      • Click your profile picture > Manage account > Organizations
      • If the malicious tenant appears, try Leave organization.
      • If the option is missing or blocked, move to the next step
    2. Report to Microsoft
    3. Secure your Account
    4. Block Communication
      • In Teams, block or mute any chats from that tenant.
      • If emails were involved, mark them as phishing in Outlook/Hotmail.
    5. Monitor for Abuse
      • Keep an eye on your account activity at Microsoft Account Activity
      • If you see suspicious logins, report them and sign out everywhere.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance you can reply to this message.

    Thank you,

    April P.
