Are Anthropic Claude models on Azure AI Foundry eligible for Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub credits

Hello,

I am on the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub and receive Azure credits through my sponsored subscription. We are exploring the use of Anthropic Claude models through Azure AI Foundry (for example Claude Opus, Sonnet, or Haiku) and need clarity on billing before integrating them into our product.

I would like to confirm whether usage of these Claude models will be billed normally to my subscription or if they can be offset by the Founders Hub credits.

Specifically:

Are Claude models classified as third party marketplace items on Azure

If so, are they excluded from startup credit coverage based on the clause that credits cannot be applied to marketplace products

Is there any current exception or promotional program that allows these models to be covered by startup credits

If possible, please share an authoritative answer or link to current policy so we can plan cost estimates accurately.

Thank you.

    Hi Abu Musaddiq Zamani

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A and Thank you for reaching out.

Anthropic Claude models through Azure AI Foundry will affect your Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub credits. Here’s what you need to know:

Usage of Claude Models: Claude models such as Claude Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku are indeed part of the Azure AI Foundry but are considered third-party marketplace items. Generally, credits from the Microsoft for Startups program cannot be applied to marketplace products.

    Classification and Billing:

    • Since Claude models are likely classified as third-party marketplace items, they are typically excluded from startup credit coverage based on standard policies.
      • The Azure credits can be used towards services offered directly by Azure but not for products in the marketplace.
      Exceptions or Promotions:
    • Currently, there are no known exceptions or promotional programs that would allow the usage of startup credits for these models. However, it’s always best to check the latest announcements from Microsoft, as policies can change.

Cost Estimates: Without the ability to offset costs with startup credits for marketplace products, you’d need to plan your expenses based on the expected usage of these models directly from the Azure portal.
