Granted Microphone Permissions: - Allowed apps access your microphone" is turned on. -

Updated Audio Drivers: - all the audio drivers are updated as per latest available software

If your microphone works in the browser version of Microsoft Teams but not in the desktop app, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Check Microphone Settings in Teams: Ensure that the correct microphone is selected within the Teams app settings. You can do this by going to Settings > Devices and checking the audio devices.
    2. Microphone Permissions: Even though you mentioned that microphone permissions are granted, it’s worth double-checking that Teams has permission to access the microphone specifically in the Windows settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and ensure that Teams is allowed to use the microphone.
    3. Device Manager: Check if your microphone is recognized by Windows. You can do this by going to Device Manager and looking under Audio inputs and outputs. If there are any issues, you may see a warning icon.
    4. Check for Hardware Mute: Ensure that there is no hardware mute button on your microphone or headset that might be disabling the microphone.
    5. Network Issues: Sometimes, network issues can affect audio performance in Teams. Ensure that your internet connection is stable.
    6. Reinstall Teams: Since you've already reinstalled Teams, make sure to completely remove all Teams files before reinstalling. This can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
    7. Check for Conflicting Applications: Ensure that no other applications are using the microphone at the same time, which could cause conflicts.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.

    Hi @Anshul Kumar B,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the steps you’ve already tried. I understand how inconvenient it can be when the microphone works in the browser but not in the Teams desktop app.

Here are suggestions you can try to troubleshoot:

    1. Check Teams settings again
    • Open the Teams desktop app and click the three dots next to your profile icon in the top-right corner, then select Settings.
    • Navigate to the Devices tab and confirm that the correct microphone is selected under the Microphone section.
    • Even if you’ve set it before, Teams may default to another device. If multiple microphones are listed, try switching between them to see if that resolves the issue.
    1. Check Teams permissions via Task Manager
    • Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc and locate Teams under the Processes tab to ensure it’s running properly.

    1. Run the Teams troubleshooter
    • Go to Windows Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters. Find the Audio troubleshooter and run it to detect and fix any audio-related problems.

    1. Clear Teams Cache

    For Windows:

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar, and then select Quit.
    • Pressing Windows+R to open the Run dialog box.
    • In the Run dialog box, enter the following path, and then select OK.

    %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams

    • Delete all files and folders in the directory.
    • Restart Teams.

    For macOS:

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit or press Command+Q.
    • In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
    • Enter the following commands, and press Return after each command:

    rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams

    rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2

    • Restart Teams.
    1. Run Teams as Administrator

Search Microsoft Teams in Star menu and right-click Teams shortcut → Run as administrator.

    Hi @Anshul Kumar B,

Thank you for your detailed update and for trying most of the suggested steps. I truly appreciate the effort you’ve put in so far. I understand how inconvenient it can be when your microphone works perfectly in other apps and web versions of Teams but not in the desktop app, especially when you’re using a company-managed device.

Since you’re unable to complete Step 3 due to Microsoft Store restrictions and only one microphone is listed under your device options, this indicates that the hardware is functioning correctly and the issue is likely related to the Teams desktop app or system policies.

Please review this article for additional troubleshooting: My microphone isn't working in Microsoft Teams. If the steps there don’t resolve the issue, I recommend contacting your IT administrator. They can:

    • Check for any network or admin restrictions that might affect Teams.
    • Review Group Policy settings that could block microphone access in the desktop app.
    • If necessary, submit a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for deeper investigation.

Because you’re on a company laptop, it’s possible that certain security or compliance policies are preventing Teams from accessing the microphone correctly. Your IT team will have the tools and permissions to verify and adjust these settings.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reply. I’m here to help you.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
