I've tried tons of troubleshooting recos, but I'm stuck in a loop where it incorrectly says I've tried too many times with the wrong account or password. And now, captcha appears underneath and that doesn't process what I enter either. I just changed the pw on December 1st, so I know that's not it.

I can get into hotmail on my desktop via Microsoft Edge browser, but not Chrome or Firefox. I have the Outlook app on my phone as well, but that has my work email and do not want to add my personal email to that. Please help me reconnect my hotmail to Iphone's Mail App. I've been trying for 2 days investing an incredible amount of hours with no luck.

To reconnect your Hotmail account to the Mail app on your iPhone, follow these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check Account Credentials: Ensure that you are entering the correct email address and password. Since you mentioned changing your password recently, double-check that you are using the updated password.
    2. Remove and Re-add Account: If you haven't already, try removing the Hotmail account from your iPhone's Mail app completely and then re-adding it. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts, select your Hotmail account, and tap Delete Account. After that, add it back by selecting Add Account and choosing Outlook.com.
    3. Check for Captcha: If you encounter a captcha, make sure you are entering it correctly. Sometimes, switching to a different browser or device can help resolve captcha issues.
    4. Use the Outlook App: Since you have the Outlook app installed, consider using it for your personal email instead of the Mail app if you continue to experience issues. It may provide a more seamless experience for managing your Hotmail account.
    5. Reset Network Settings: If you are still having trouble, resetting your network settings might help. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that this will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords.
    6. Update iOS: Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS, as updates can fix bugs and improve compatibility with email services.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to check for any service disruptions on Microsoft's end or consult the Microsoft support resources for further assistance.

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what’s happening. It sounds like the issue comes from Microsoft’s login process. When you remove your Hotmail account and try to add it back, Apple Mail uses a secure sign-in flow. If there are too many failed attempts, Microsoft temporarily locks the process and adds a CAPTCHA. When that CAPTCHA doesn’t work, it usually means the session is stuck or cookies are causing problems.

The quickest fix is to sign in through Safari on your iPhone at https://account.live.com and complete any CAPTCHA there. Then restart your phone and try adding the account again in Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Outlook.com. If you use two-step verification, generate an app password from your Microsoft account security settings and use that instead. Also, check your security settings at https://account.microsoft.com/security to make sure there are no blocks.

Since Hotmail works in Edge but not Chrome or Firefox, clearing browser cache or using private mode can help too.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more guidance.

    Best regards,

    Edward
