Shared links to my onedrive appear to be viruses and malware, is my account compromised even though I report and delete as soon as they appear?

Over the past week suspicious PDFs and links have been shared to my OneDrive account. We are reporting them as viruses and malware and they are being reported back by Microsoft as a violation of terms and corrective actions have been taken. Our question is, is our account compromised needing a password change or are we doing everything required by reporting and getting them deleted?

If suspicious PDFs and links are being shared to your OneDrive account, it may indicate that your account has been compromised. Reporting and deleting these items is a good practice, but it is also essential to take additional steps to secure your account. Here are some recommended actions:

    1. Change Your Password: If you suspect that your account is compromised, changing your password is a critical step to regain control and prevent further unauthorized access.
    2. Check for Malicious Activity: Investigate if there are any other suspicious activities associated with your account. This includes checking for any unauthorized sharing of files or changes to your account settings.
    3. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication: Implementing multi-factor authentication can provide an additional layer of security for your account.
    4. Monitor Account Activity: Keep an eye on your account for any further suspicious activity after taking these steps.

By following these steps, you can help ensure that your account is secure, even if you are reporting and deleting suspicious content as it appears.
