Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If you still have access to your Microsoft account, you will need to secure your account first.

    1. Change your Microsoft account password.
    2. Enable Two-factor authentication and set up Authenticator.
    3. Sign out of everywhere.

Before you look to reset your password, double-check that you are using the correct email address when logging in.

Please use the following link to reset the password: https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx

To enable 2FA and set up an authenticator app, sign in to your account here.

    https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage

Ensure you have at least three security verification methods. (Password, email, phone number, and authenticator).

Turn on - Two-factor authentication on the page.

Then, click Add a new way to sign in or verify, and set up the Authenticator app on your mobile device.

Next, on the same page, scroll down and select 'Sign out everywhere'.

Once your account has been secured, go to https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/options/accounts-category/storage storage settings page, click Free up space - Outlook (Attachments).

Free up your Outlook email storage, including the recycle bin folder.

Ensure you have a backup of the email or the attachments. Note that you're permanently deleting the emails.

Once done, also check whether you have enough storage space on OneDrive. Once your storage is free, you can send or receive emails, typically after 2-4 hours.

It sounds like your email account may have been compromised, especially since you are seeing sent emails that you did not send. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue:

    1. Change Your Password: Since you've already changed your password, ensure that it's strong and unique. Consider enabling two-factor authentication for added security.
    2. Check for Compromised Account: If you suspect that your account is still compromised, follow the steps in the article on responding to a compromised account. This includes checking for any unauthorized forwarding rules or delegates that might have been set up.
    3. Wait for Sending Limits to Reset: If you have exceeded your sending limit (which is 10,000 recipients per day in Exchange Online), you will need to wait for 24 hours before you can send emails again.
    4. Scan for Malware: Run a malware scan on your devices to ensure that there are no malicious programs that could be sending emails from your account without your knowledge.
    5. Contact Support: If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

By following these steps, you should be able to regain control of your account and prevent further unauthorized activity.
