I have just treated myself to a Microsoft Surface Pro 12 and I cannot connect to the WiFi. The driver is a Qualcom 7800 Mobile Unit and the broadband is Virgin 1 gig. When I switch the pro12 on it does not connect to the internet. All usual things I have done and reset but still nothing. I did notice though that I couldnt On the wireless network properties/security WPA is 3 not WPA-2 Personal. I booted up my Pro7 and the wifi is fine and the security is WPA-2, so I changed the Pro12 to WPA-2 and it wont keep the setting. Is this my issue and if it is how do I make it remember WPA-2?

This sounds like a router/gateway configuration issue. And you should check if the router/gateway you are using actually supports WPA3-Personal. You should be able to find the manual on line. (I don't know which router/gateway you are using, do you have a link or a brand and model number?)

The adapter in your 12" Surface most definitely supports WPA3-Personal. I have no trouble here in the US with WPA3 connectivity.

To resolve the Wi-Fi connectivity issue on your Microsoft Surface Pro 12, consider the following steps:

    1. Check for Driver Updates: Ensure that your Qualcomm 7800 Mobile Unit driver is up to date. Keeping your Wi-Fi driver updated is crucial for optimal performance. You can manage and deploy Surface driver updates by following the guidelines provided by Microsoft.
    2. Adjust Wireless Settings: Since you mentioned that the Surface Pro 12 does not retain the WPA-2 setting, it may be beneficial to check the wireless network properties again.
      • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting it.
      • Under Network adapters, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
      • Go to the Advanced tab and look for settings related to security protocols. Ensure that WPA-2 is selected and saved correctly.
    3. Minimize Signal Interference: Make sure that there are no physical obstructions or interference affecting the Wi-Fi signal. Thick walls or metal objects can impact connectivity.
    4. Use the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit: This tool can help identify and resolve common connectivity issues on Surface devices. It may provide insights into why the settings are not being retained.
    5. Reset Network Settings: If the problem persists, consider resetting your network settings. This can often resolve configuration issues that prevent connectivity.
    6. Check for Environmental Factors: Ensure that you are in an area with strong Wi-Fi coverage and minimal interference from other networks, especially if you are in a densely populated area.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consult with Microsoft support for further assistance.
