My one note is glitching, I tried everything, but it seems like I'm missing a step or two, and it's really hard to work without my notes

To fix issues with OneNote, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your OneNote application is up to date. You can do this through the Microsoft Store or by checking for updates in the Office suite.
    2. Delete Notebook Cache: If OneNote is glitching, try deleting the notebook cache. This can often resolve issues related to syncing and performance. You can do this by selecting the option when prompted during startup.
    3. Modify the Registry: If the problem persists, you may need to modify the registry. Here’s how:
      • Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Run dialog (Windows + R).
      • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\OneNote.
      • Look for the FirstBootStatus key and change its value to 02000202. This indicates that OneNote is already installed and can help prevent startup issues.
    4. Reinstall OneNote: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling OneNote. This can help resolve any installation-related issues.
    5. Check for Internet Connection: Ensure that you are connected to the internet, as OneNote requires an active connection to sync your notes.
    6. Sign In: Make sure you are signed in to your Microsoft account within OneNote, as this is necessary for accessing your notebooks.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the glitches in OneNote and regain access to your notes.

    Hi Madiha,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details about your OneNote issue I understand how frustrating it can be when your notes aren’t working properly especially when you rely on them for your tasks. It sounds like you’ve already tried several steps so let’s look at another approach that might help resolve the glitches.

One possible solution is to reset the OneNote app completely. This process clears any corrupted settings without deleting your notebooks. To do this go to Settings select Apps select OneNote select Advanced Options and select Reset. After resetting restart your device and sign back into your Microsoft account to ensure your notebooks sync correctly. This often resolves persistent issues that updates or cache clearing don’t fix.

Could you try this and let me know if it improves the performance?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
