I use Microsoft account [Moderator note: personal information removed]@shaw.ca. I have Microsoft 365 installed on my desktop. My desktop is no longer in use, so I want to install Microsoft 365 onto a second computer, a laptop. When I log into Microsoft, I do not see the option to install apps, and my account shows absolutely no activity despite my having just renewed my subscription @ $115 + tax.

I would like to get this sorted out. Additionally, I seem to have 3 or 4 valid Microsoft usernames, and I would like to get this cleaned up.

Thank you

To install Microsoft 365 on your second computer, you need to ensure that your Microsoft account is correctly set up and that you have the appropriate licenses assigned. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Check Your Subscription: Make sure your subscription is active. You can verify this by logging into your Microsoft account and checking your subscription status.
    2. License Assignment: If you are using a Work or School account, ensure that a license is assigned to your account. If you do not see the option to install apps, it may be due to a missing license. You may need to contact your Microsoft 365 administrator to assign a license.
    3. Install Microsoft 365: If you have verified that your subscription is active and a license is assigned, you should be able to install Microsoft 365 on your new laptop. Log into your Microsoft account and look for the option to install apps. If it's not visible, try accessing the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to manage your licenses.
    4. Multiple Accounts: If you suspect you have multiple Microsoft accounts, it may help to consolidate them. You can try to recover any accounts you may have forgotten about or contact Microsoft support for assistance in cleaning up your account.

If you continue to experience issues, consider running the Microsoft 365 activation troubleshooter, which can help resolve subscription activation problems.

Hi, I get how confusing that can be when you’ve renewed your subscription but can’t find the install option. Usually, this happens when the subscription is linked to a different Microsoft account than the one you’re signing in with. If you have multiple accounts, it’s easy for the license to be under another email. First, can you confirm which account shows the active Microsoft 365 subscription by going to account.microsoft.com/services? If the subscription doesn’t appear there, try signing in with your other Microsoft usernames. Once you find the correct account, you should see an “Install apps” button.
