Title already tells it all: None of the Office application run on my desktop (it is a new HP Elite One, which i use since 1 year without any issues)

Today (5.12.2025) i installed WIN update KB5070311 (O/S builds 26200.7309 und 26100.7309) and i highly assume (still not sure) that there is negative impact on my Office.

I did a quick repair, then a full repair. No change.

Then i uninstalled Office 365 completely and restarted my PC. Then i installed Office 365 from scratch. None of the Office Desktop apps like Excel, Word, OneNote are starting.

When i open my OneDrive online and open an Excel Sheet in the browser - and ask there to open this file in the Desktop App - there is call and it ends with a second tab in browser with my same file, which is now opened twice.

Please help!

Thanks for the details. Are you signed in with the same Microsoft 365 account used for your subscription?

One thing to try next that Microsoft supports is using the Online Repair, then if still no start, run the official Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to completely remove Office, restart your PC, then reinstall Microsoft 365 from your Microsoft account. This fixes most launch failures after Windows updates.

Let me know if the apps still do not open after those steps.

    Dear all!

Finally - after nothing worked to get my Office (Desktop Apps) running - i run a WIN recovery such that Windows OS itself got repaired.

After that i had another version of release 25 HJ2 installed (see second screenshot below, sorry they are in German)

Then i started Excel, but it still did not open! BUT it was the first time i received an error message!

So then i once again started REPAIR of Office 365

    THAT WORKED!

I just lost 3 hours of my life for nothing, but finally i can work again with my PC ;-)
