If your account has been hacked and you have regained access, it is important to follow the necessary steps to secure your account and address any issues with email changes. Since you mentioned that Microsoft is making you wait a month to revert back to your old email, this is likely part of their security protocols to prevent further unauthorized access.

Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since you have already reached out to Microsoft, continue to follow up with them. Make sure to provide them with any necessary information to verify your identity.
    2. Secure Your Account: Change your password immediately and enable two-factor authentication if you haven't done so already. This adds an extra layer of security to your account.
    3. Monitor for Suspicious Activity: Keep an eye on your account for any unusual activity, such as unfamiliar sign-ins or changes to your settings.
    4. Check Recovery Options: Ensure that your recovery options (like phone number and alternate email) are up to date, which can help in case you need to recover your account again in the future.
    5. Be Patient: Understand that security measures, such as waiting periods for email changes, are in place to protect your account from further compromise.

If you continue to have difficulties, you may want to escalate your issue with Microsoft support or seek assistance through their official support channels.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

It’s good to know that you were able to regain access to your account.

If any of your security information, such as your phone number or email address, was changed by the hacker and you have now replaced it with new details, please note that it can take up to 30 days for the changes to take full effect. Unfortunately, Microsoft cannot expedite this waiting period.

In the future, ensure your account is protected by enabling strong security measures such as Two-Factor Authentication and the Microsoft Authenticator app. So that you may not fall in to the same issue again.
