Hi, so I bought an HP Omni Book 5 a month ago and the facial recognition (Windows Hello) worked fine. A few days ago, it wouldn't recognize me anymore, "Devise Manager" says the IR camera along with Biometric Devices (facial recognition software) are both working properly. When I try to re setup I get to the point where it asks me for my pin#, I enter the pin# I see the camera turn on and it takes me to a scanning screen that tells me to make sure my face is in the middle. Only I don't see my image on the screen and it's not scanning, and then a large image of an eye with a slash going through it appears? I've tried different lighting with no luck. Appreciate any Help. Thanks

There could be several reasons why Windows Hello is not recognizing you suddenly. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Check Camera Functionality: Ensure that the IR camera is functioning correctly. Since Device Manager indicates that both the IR camera and biometric devices are working properly, this is a good sign. However, you might want to check if the camera is obstructed or dirty.
    2. Lighting Conditions: You mentioned trying different lighting, which is important as the IR camera requires adequate lighting to function correctly. Ensure you are in a well-lit area without strong backlighting.
    3. Biometric Service: Restart the biometric service. You can do this by removing your PIN from the system and then restarting the biometric service using the command prompt with the following commands:
net stop wbiosrvc && net start wbiosrvc

    4. Re-enroll Your Face: If the camera is still not scanning your face, try to remove the existing facial recognition enrollment and re-enroll your face. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and remove the face recognition option before setting it up again.
    5. Driver Issues: Sometimes, the drivers for the biometric devices may need to be reinstalled. You can do this by going to Device Manager, right-clicking the biometric device, and selecting Uninstall Device. Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.
    6. Check for Updates: Ensure your Windows is up to date, as updates can fix bugs related to hardware and software compatibility.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to consult HP support or check for any specific updates related to your device model.
