How do I fix a delayed response to each keystroke in Windows 11?

A few days ago, on my laptop, I noticed that there was about a full second delay after pushing each key before the character registered on the screen. Sometimes the keys do not even register at all. I have to push keys repeatedly before getting a response on the screen, including the "backspace" key. There was nothing out of the ordinary prior to this happening, and it was working normally earlier that day. Here are the remedies I have tried without success:

-restarting

-cleaning the keyboard

-installing all Windows updates

-increasing "repeat rate" in keyboard settings to fastest

-disabled "filter keys"

-removed/reinstalled keyboard drivers in device manager

-ran sfc /scannow at the command prompt in Admin mode (it found and fixed a corrupt file, but he problem persisted after restart)

My device is an Eluktronics MAX-17 laptop running Windows 11. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JJ

It sounds like you've already tried several common troubleshooting steps for keyboard issues in Windows 11. Here are a few additional suggestions that might help resolve the delayed response to keystrokes:

    1. Check for Background Processes: Sometimes, background applications can cause delays. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if any processes are consuming a lot of CPU or memory.
    2. Update Keyboard Drivers: Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager by right-clicking on your keyboard and selecting "Update driver."
    3. Change Keyboard Settings: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Typing, and check if there are any settings that might be affecting keyboard input, such as the "Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode" option.
    4. Perform a Clean Boot: This can help identify if a startup program is causing the issue. You can perform a clean boot by typing "msconfig" in the Run dialog (Win + R), going to the Services tab, checking "Hide all Microsoft services," and then disabling the rest.
    5. Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus program to ensure that malware isn't affecting system performance.
    6. Test with an External Keyboard: If possible, connect an external keyboard to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is hardware-related.

If the problem continues after trying these steps, it may be worth considering hardware support or contacting Eluktronics for further assistance.
