How to use "Copy Link to Paragraph" in OneNote to target the specific text linked

Hello,

I have been using OneNote on my Mac for a long time. I remember in the past, after I created a link for a paragraph or section and copied it somewhere else, I could click on the link to find the exact location of the paragraph or section. However, now when I click on the link, it only directs me to the page containing the paragraph or section - i.e. if the paragraph is on the same page as the link, nothing could happen after I click on the link. I wonder whether this could be due to the recent updates to Version 16.103.3 (25113013). This issue has been nerve-wracking for me because I created lots of links to organise my notes, but now they are all not functioning.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or assistance on this problem.

    Hi @Fu, Poppy

Thank you for reaching out via the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the information you shared, I understand that the "Copy Link to Paragraph" feature in OneNote for Mac is no longer navigating to the exact location of the text. Instead, it only directs you to the page containing the paragraph (or does nothing if you are already on that page), which is causing issues with how you organize your notes.

In my test environment, this feature is still working normally when I create a new notebook. Therefore, please try the following two methods to help narrow down the issue:

Method 1: Test with a New Notebook

Please create a completely new notebook. Create some text, copy the link to a specific paragraph, and paste it elsewhere. Then, click the link to see if it automatically jumps to the specific text you selected, or if it still only takes you to the page containing that text.

Method 2: Roll back to the previous version

If the new notebook still encounters the same behavior, please try this step. Since my environment is running version 16.103.2 and the feature works normally, it is possible the issue is specific to the 16.103.3 update.

Please try uninstalling your current version of OneNote, and then download and install version 16.103.2 from the official update history link below:

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. Please let me know the result.
