I am trying to run an app that requires hyper v is disabled and despite trying 50 different ways and it LOOKS like everything related to it is disabled, I still can't use the app. Please advise.

To disable Hyper-V in Windows 11 Home, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open Control Panel:
      • Press Win + R, type control, and hit Enter.
    2. Navigate to Programs and Features:
      • Click on Programs, then select Programs and Features.
    3. Turn Windows Features On or Off:
      • On the left side, click on Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. Disable Hyper-V:
      • In the Windows Features dialog, find Hyper-V. Expand it and uncheck the Hyper-V Hypervisor option.
    5. Apply Changes:
      • Click OK and then restart your computer to apply the changes.

If you prefer using PowerShell, you can also disable Hyper-V by following these steps:

    1. Open PowerShell as Administrator:
      • Right-click the Start button and select Windows Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Run the Command:
      • Enter the following command:
             Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V-Hypervisor

    3. Restart Your Computer:
      • After the command completes, restart your computer.

After following these steps, Hyper-V should be disabled, and you should be able to run your application that requires it to be turned off.

    Hi ,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Besides the steps provided by Q&A Assist, you can permanently disable Hyper-V from the BIOS. Reboot your PC, enter UEFI/BIOS (usually F2, Del, F10), find the CPU/Advanced settings, locate "Virtualization Technology" (VT-x or AMD-V), set it to Disabled > Save and exit.

    Hi Alyssa Kantor,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Please open Core isolation from Start menu, disable Memory integrity then reboot your computer. Your Hyper-V status should be disabled.

I hope that above information is helpful to you.

    Thanks for sharing the screenshot.

Even though Hyper-V looks disabled, your system still has Virtualization-Based Security enabled. When VBS is on, Windows continues to use Hyper-V in the background, which prevents apps that require Hyper-V to be fully disabled from working. This is why the app still doesn’t run.

Your computer BIOS configuration seems very limited. If the provided step by Lucas-V does not help, click Start and open Run > Type gpedit.msc and hit enter > Go to:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Guard > Set Turn On Virtualization Based Security to Disabled > Restart your computer to see if the issue is resolved.
