I have a spam email that keeps appearing in my draft folder.

Even when I delete it, it reappears a couple of mins later.

I have set up rules, which it keeps evading.

The spam email has no headers, no @ email address to block.

Please help - issue is on IOS and Web.

It seems that you are experiencing an issue with a spam email repeatedly appearing in your Drafts folder in Outlook. Here are some steps you can take to address this problem:

    1. Check for Rules: Ensure that the rules you have set up are correctly configured to filter out this spam email. Sometimes, rules may not apply as expected if they are not set up to catch all variations of the spam message.
    2. Clear Cache: If you are using Outlook on iOS, try clearing the app's cache or reinstalling the app. This can help resolve any temporary glitches that might be causing the spam email to reappear.
    3. Review Spam Filters: Since the email lacks headers and an identifiable address, it may be evading standard spam filters. Consider reviewing your anti-spam settings and adjusting them to be more aggressive if possible.
    4. Use the Web Version: If the issue persists on iOS, try accessing your Outlook account via a web browser. Sometimes, the web version may handle spam filtering differently and could help in removing the persistent draft.
    5. Contact Support: If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance. They may have additional tools or insights to help resolve this issue.

These steps should help you manage the spam email issue in your Drafts folder effectively.

    Hi Samantha Cairns

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand how confusing your situation is. Just to confirm, have you already tried the steps suggested in the Q&A Assist response above? If yes, did you face any issues with any of those steps?

In the meantime, here are a few additional checks that you could try:

    1. Check recent sign‑ins & secure your account

    2. Remove any hidden mail actions

    • In Outlook on the web, go to Settings > Mail > Rules and Settings > Mail > Forwarding and review
    • Delete any unknown rules

    3. Remove and re-add the account on iPhone

    • Open your Outlook iOS app > tap your profile picture (top‑left) > tap Settings (gear)
    • Under General > Accounts > select the affected account > scroll down to select Remove Account
    • Add the account back again

    4. Clear Outlook app cache

    • Delete the Outlook app and restart your iPhone
    • Reinstall Outlook from the App Store

Thank you for your understanding and patience. Please feel free to let me know how it goes after trying these steps.
