So recently I downloaded Fortnite and It was running way worse than usual with crazy frame drops and that somehow applied to all the games I played and Pc programs. I dont know what happened, but It wasn't really instant but It was drastic really fast. Like a month ago I was completly fine being able to keep obs open and discord and the game I was playing but now. I can't even do that with my recording either looking trash or just my game running bad, or most of the time both. Yea I have no clue what happens. I reinstalled my drivers too, I suspect its a windows update, but yea I have no clue. I really don't think it is thermal throttling, but it feels to sudden for it to just be thermal throttling.

It sounds like your PC is experiencing performance issues that could be due to several factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

    1. Close Background Programs: Running multiple programs simultaneously can strain your system. Try closing any unnecessary applications, especially those that run in the background, like Discord or OBS, when playing games.
    2. Check Startup Programs: Some programs may be set to run at startup, which can slow down your system. You can view and disable unnecessary startup programs through the Task Manager:
      • Right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager.
      • Go to the Startup tab and disable any programs you don’t need at startup.
    3. Clean Up Disk Space: Use the Disk Cleanup tool to remove unnecessary files that may be taking up space on your hard drive. This can help improve performance:
      • Search for Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files in the search box and follow the prompts.
    4. Run Check Disk: Over time, your hard drive may develop errors that can affect performance. Running Check Disk can help identify and fix these errors:
      • Search for This PC, right-click on your drive, select Properties, go to the Tools tab, and click on Check under Error checking.
    5. Adjust Visual Effects: Disabling certain visual effects can also help speed up your system. You can adjust these settings by searching for Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows and selecting Adjust for best performance.
    6. Uninstall Extra Antivirus Programs: If you have multiple antivirus programs running, they can conflict with each other and slow down your system. Make sure to keep only one antivirus program active.
    7. Consider ReadyBoost: If you have a USB flash drive, you can use it with ReadyBoost to improve performance by using it as additional memory.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider checking for any recent Windows updates that may have affected performance or consult with a professional for further assistance.

Restart (not shut down) your PC to flush out your RAM.

Open Task Manager, then select the Processes tab.

Leave that utility open to monitor your system.

When your system is lagging and running slow, please provide a screenshot of the Processes tab.
