I would like to draw the attention once again to the defect/bug in the Windows Spotlight Lock Screen. Like many other affected users, the classic solutions (reset, re-register, check no metered connection, location settings, sfc \scannow, dism etc.) suggested on various forums do not work. I have already performed twice a complete clean install and encounter the same scenario each time. After two days, the assets folder is emptied and I no longer receive new lock screen images. I had virtually never had any problems with Windows Spotlight before, but the defect started in September 2025. My laptop only has a local account. According to a number of users, this could be the cause in combination with the use of OneDrive. I have already raised the issue in the feedback hub without much success and I know that this is only a user forum, but hopefully this will draw more attention to the bug and it can be resolved in one of the next Windows Update releases. From the reports I have read from other affected users, it appears that performing a clean install does not solve the problem, so it is not entirely surprising that there is suspicion of a bug in certain scenarios. It is also not helpful that users are forced to try all kinds of experimental solutions (registry) that risks damaging Windows.

It seems you are experiencing a persistent issue with the Windows Spotlight feature on your lock screen, particularly with the assets folder being emptied and not receiving new images after a couple of days. This issue has been reported by other users as well, and it appears to be related to specific configurations, such as using a local account in conjunction with OneDrive.

Unfortunately, the context provided does not contain specific troubleshooting steps or solutions for this particular bug. However, it is advisable to keep an eye on future Windows updates, as Microsoft may address this issue in subsequent releases. Additionally, continuing to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub can help raise awareness of the problem among Microsoft developers.

If you haven't already, consider checking for updates regularly and ensuring that your system is fully updated, as this may help resolve the issue over time.
