To add an account to your tablet using the Windows App, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Windows App on your tablet.
    2. Tap the user profile icon in the top-right corner.
    3. Select Sign in with another account.
    4. Enter your work or school account credentials. Note that personal Microsoft accounts (MSA) cannot be used unless they have been invited as an external identity to a Microsoft Entra ID tenant.
    5. If you have multiple accounts, you can repeat these steps to add additional accounts.

If you encounter any issues, ensure that your account is correctly set up and that you are using the appropriate type of account as required by the Windows App.

    Dear @Frederick Mathena,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

From your description, it seems you are trying to add your school account to your tablet, but the sign‑in is not going through. Since this issue is tagged under Outlook and Education, please try the steps below:

    Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall

You can try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it. This helps reset the app’s sign‑in components and removes any corrupted data that may be blocking the account setup. After reinstalling, please try signing in again with your school account credentials.

Step 2: Confirm the exact school username

Your school account is typically a work/school (Microsoft Entra/Azure AD) account, not a personal Outlook.com/Hotmail. It often looks like ******@school.edu or a variation assigned by your institution.

    Step 3: Avoid account conflicts

If you previously tried signing in with a personal Microsoft account on this tablet, remove that profile from the affected app first (Outlook/Teams/OneDrive), then sign in fresh with the school account to avoid mixing identities.

If the issue still persists, since you are using an education account, I recommend you contact your school’s IT admin. They can confirm whether your school account is active and properly licensed, and check if there are any sign‑in restrictions or policies applied to your account or device.

Moreover, to help me narrow down the issue, could you please confirm these questions below:

    • Can you sign in to other Microsoft apps (Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams)?
    • What exact error message do you see when you try to sign in?
    • Have you successfully signed in with this school account on any other device (phone, laptop, web browser)?
    • Has the account ever worked on this tablet before, or is this your first time adding it?
    • Are you using a personal Microsoft account on the same device that might be conflicting with the school account?
    • Did your school provide any instructions or portal links for account setup?
