You should install the RTM version of Visual Studio 2005 on a clean machine, that is one that did not have a prior BETA or CTP installed on it. This is not possible for everyone and there are many people that had prior builds installed. Dan Fernandez has posted a link to an automatic uninstall tool that can save you tons of time.

The release notes also contain good instructions about how to remove previous versions that I found pretty helpful.
