EETimes: Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Article.

There's an interesting article covering the updates for CE 6.0 on EETimes site - this talks about the updates to kernel architecture, shared source, and new operating system technologies.

ce and xpe related! I'm just a hobbist for now but have a couple of good ideas (i think) but I'm stuck on finding a supply of cheap 7" lcd touch screens any ideas? Also does ce6 support vwifi (virtual wifi) xpe I'm sure can be made to but what about ce6.  I know this is not exactly the place to ask this question but you seem to be the MAN (this is good, your doing a great job of promoting ce and xpe) in this case. thanks tonyr@puzzlingphotos.com

I watched your Channel 9 video yesterday, and I wonder if there is a hidden/unspoken gotcha about the shared source stuff. Am I correct in thinking that when you say "100% kernel shared source", there is non-kernel source that is not shared?  If so, does GWES count as non-kernel?  It was annoying when the source disappeared in 4.2.  Hopefully, it is back by now. Any other portions of code that isn't shared source?

Jon, There are two levels of shared source that are available with CE 5.0 and CE 6.0. These are referred to as Shared Source and Premium Source. Shared source covers the kernel (with CE 6.0), and some of the underlying o/s architecture (driver manager for example). Premium Source covers most of the operating system, including GWES - access to premium source is through an application process - there's an application form you can fill in online here - http://www.microsoft.com/resources/sharedsource/Licensing/Windowsce_premium_rdst.mspx

Thanks.  Has that always been the case (say CE4.2), and we just never knew it?  That would have been helpful when we were working on it - we got around it by taking the shared source 4.0 gwes code, and dumping it into 4.2 to debug.
