Deploy Nonprofit data solutions in Microsoft Fabric

Important

Some or all of this functionality is available as part of a preview release. The content and the functionality are subject to change.

After meeting the prerequisites for deploying Nonprofit data solutions, you can use the instructions provided in the following subsections to proceed with the deployment.

Important

Begin by identifying the workspaces where Nonprofit data solutions capabilities are available for installation. Currently, Fundraising is the only capability available to install under Nonprofit data solutions.

  1. Sign into Microsoft Fabric.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Workloads and locate Nonprofit data solutions.
  3. Under the About section, select See workspaces to view the workspaces in which Nonprofit data solutions capabilities are available. If you can't locate your workspace, see the Nonprofit data solutions added in the workload hub section in the General prerequisites.
  4. Select the workspace where you would like the capability deployed and select Go to workspace. By default, Microsoft Fabric places new items in your current active workspace unless you choose a different one. Creation generally references the active workspace, and if none is open, My workspace is used automatically. This means that if the intended workspace isn't active before starting the installation, the following deployment options might not function properly.

You can initiate the deployment process for Nonprofit data solutions using any of the following options in Microsoft Fabric:

  • From the Workspace
  • Using the Workload hub
  • Using the Deployment wizard

Deploying from the workspace

  1. Sign into Microsoft Fabric.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Workspaces and navigate to the required workspace.
  3. Ensure that you select the correct folder in the selected workspace to create the Fundraising capability. If needed, select New Folder to create a new folder.
  4. On the right-hand menu, locate and select Fundraising

Deploying from the Workload hub

  1. Sign into Microsoft Fabric.
  2. In the left navigation pane, select Workloads and locate Nonprofit data solutions.
  3. On the Nonprofit data solutions page, select Fundraising.

Deploying using the wizard

  1. Sign into Microsoft Fabric.

  2. In the left navigation pane, select the ellipses (...).

  3. Select Create. Find and select Fundraising.

    • On the new Fundraising page, create a name for the item and update the location if necessary.
    • Select Create to run the deployment wizard.

Deployment steps

  1. Overview provides information about the solution, its components, and prerequisites for deployment. Select Next.

  2. In the Configuration step, the name and location of the deployment are prepopulated using the information you entered earlier. Select the packages to deploy in accordance with the data source you want to connect. If you want to try the solution without ingesting your organization’s data, you can select Sample data.

  3. Select Next.

  4. The Additional configuration step guides through the instructions to ingest your selected data.

    • Dynamics 365 Sales with Common Data Model for Nonprofits:

      • Ensure that your setup meets all the necessary Dynamics 365 Sales prerequisites before the deployment. Failure to do so might result in the required Lakehouse not appearing in the dropdown.
      • Select the OneLake lakehouse that contains your linked Dataverse data (its name starts with Dataverse).
    • Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack:

      • Ensure that your setup meets all the necessary Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack prerequisites before the deployment. Failure to do so might result in the required Lakehouse not appearing in the dropdown.
      • Select the Salesforce connection that links Salesforce objects to Microsoft Fabric.
    • Sample data: If you only selected Sample data in the previous step, you need not perform any other configuration.

  5. In the Review step, you can see a list of the items for configuration during deployment. Select Deploy. The deployment status of each item updates until the deployment is complete.

  6. In the Finish step, you'll see a list of next steps for using the solution.
