Business value
Supporting OpenAPI v3 for connectors introduces numerous enhancements over Swagger 2.0, significantly improving the authoring experience and ease of maintainability. This upgrade will streamline the development process, making it more efficient and user-friendly, ultimately leading to higher productivity and satisfaction for your agent makers and users.
Feature details
With this release, makers can build custom connectors in Microsoft Power Platform using OpenAPI v3 specifications. This enhancement significantly streamlines the connector development process, enabling more modern, flexible, and powerful integrations with external services and applications.
With this new capability, you can directly import your OpenAPI v3 specification to create a connector—eliminating the need to downgrade your specs to the older OpenAPI v2 format. Whether you’re working with RESTful APIs designed with the latest standards or maintaining compatibility with existing systems, this feature opens the door to faster and more scalable connector development.
Once built, your v3-based connectors can be seamlessly integrated across the Power Platform ecosystem, including Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Apps, and Power Automate. There’s no configuration required to enable this feature—OpenAPI v3 support is now available by default across all environments. Just upload your v3 spec and start building connectors immediately.
