Configuring and Using the OACR Monitor

The OACR Monitor is a taskbar program that controls the checking of files in a low-priority background process (OACR daemon). The OACR Monitor serves as the main interface for all the OACR features that you need to use as you build and develop your driver.

Displaying the OACR Monitor

The OACR Monitor is automatically started when needed. If you do not build OACR-enabled projects, the OACR Monitor is not started.

Green icon that appears at Startup

In Windows 7, you have control over which icons and notifications appear in the taskbar. By default, Windows configures most taskbar programs to only show notifications. To get the most benefit from the OACR Monitor, keep it visible and available on the taskbar.

Changing the default taskbar settings in Windows 7

  1. Click the Show Hidden Icons button on the taskbar.

  2. Click Customize.

  3. In the Control Panel for the Notification Area Icons, locate the icon for Microsoft Auto Code Review. Under Behaviors, click Show icon and notifications.

Closing the OACR Monitor

To close the OACR Monitor, right-click the icon on the taskbar and click Close from the shortcut menu.

However, it should never be necessary to manually close the program.

Checking the Status of your OACR Projects

To check the status of OACR, right-click the OACR Monitor on the taskbar and click Status from the shortcut menu.
