The IWMDMStorage4 interface extends IWMDMStorage3 by providing methods for retrieving a subset of available metadata for a storage, and for setting and retrieving its list of references to other storages.
In addition to the methods inherited from IWMDMStorage3, the IWMDMStorage4 interface exposes the following methods.

| FindStorage | Retrieves the storage through its unique identification (ID). |
| GetParent | Retrieves the parent storage object. |
| GetReferences | Returns an array of pointers to IWMDMStorage objects comprising the references contained in a playlist object. |
| GetRightsWithProgress | Retrieves the rights information for the storage object, providing a callback mechanism for monitoring progress. |
| GetSpecifiedMetadata | Retrieves the specified metadata. |
| SetReferences | Sets the references contained in a playlist object, overwriting any previously existing references. |
