When you create a new icon or cursor image with the , you need to designate the target display device. When the icon or cursor resource is opened, the image most closely matching the current display device is opened by default.

In addition to the standard types of devices listed, you can add a custom device for your icon or cursor image. You can enter width, height, and color-count parameters in the Custom Image dialog box.

To select a target device image
On the control bar of the Image editor window, click the New Device Image button.
Select a target device image from the list box.

Choose the Custom button to define the width, height, and colors of a custom image.
Click OK to select the new parameters.
