DLNA defines media device classes for home and mobile networks. The following table describes these classes and their support in Windows Embedded Compact 7.
DLNA Media Device Classes
| Device class | Home or mobile device | Definition | Supported on Windows Embedded Compact 7 platform |
|---|---|---|---|
Digital media controller (DMC) |
Home network device (HND) |
UPnP control-point device that can discover other devices, such as digital media server (DMS), mobile digital media server (M-DMS), and digital media renderer (DMR), on a network. A DMC can browse media content exposed by a DMS, match it to the rendering capacities of a DMR, and set up the connections between the DMS and the DMR. A DMC typically has a UI, through which the user controls the playback experience on the DMR. |
