Microsoft 365 Copilot Notebooks offer a range of features to help you streamline your workflows, collaborate effectively, and gain insights from your content. This unit introduces key functionalities available in Notebooks.

Ask questions and summarize content in your notebook

Microsoft 365 Copilot allows you to ask questions about the content in your notebook and receive summaries or insights based on the references included.

  1. Navigate to the Notebooks home page and select the notebook you want to work on.
  2. Use the chat box to prompt Copilot with a question, such as Summarize the content development priorities based on recent emails and chats.
  3. Select Send to receive an answer grounded in the references within your notebook.

Note

The first 20 reference files in your notebook are used for grounding. Supported file types include .docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .pdf, .loop, and OneNote pages.

Generate an audio overview of your notebook's content

Create an AI-powered audio overview to transform your notebook's content into a dynamic audio experience.

Note

Audio overviews currently support content from Word, PowerPoint, Pages, OneNote, and PDFs. Other file types cannot be used when your notebook's content is converted to an audio overview.

  1. Open a notebook or create a new one in Notebooks.
  2. Select Get audio overview.
  3. Select the Format, Style, and Duration for the audio, then add Any additional customization, as necessary.
  4. Select Generate audio.
  5. Once generated, the audio overview plays automatically, and you can manage playback using the Audio player.

Within the Audio player, you can:

  • Change playback speed.
  • Skip backward or forward by 15 seconds.
  • Play or pause the audio.
  • Regenerate the audio overview.
  • Save to OneDrive.
  • Delete the audio overview if needed.

Tip

To regenerate the audio overview after adding more reference files, delete the existing overview and select Generate audio overview again.
