Describe how Power Platform supports data privacy and accessibility guidelines

Completed

Microsoft is committed to the highest levels of trust, transparency, standards conformance, and regulatory compliance. Microsoft’s cloud products and services are built to meet rigorous security and privacy demands.

Compliance and data privacy

Microsoft provides a comprehensive set of compliance offerings, including certifications and attestations, to help your organization meet national, regional, and industry-specific requirements for data collection and use. Tools for administrators support your organization’s efforts. This unit covers resources to help you determine and achieve your organization’s requirements.

  • Trust Center resources: The Microsoft Trust Center is a central hub for information on security, privacy, compliance, and transparency related to Microsoft products, including Power Platform. Visit Microsoft Trust Center.

  • Data location management: Microsoft operates multiple global data centers, allowing organizations to set geographical locations for their data. When your organization establishes a tenant, it sets the default geographical (geo) location. Environments created to support applications and contain Microsoft Dataverse data can also target a specific geo.

Data can be replicated within a region for operational continuity but doesn't move outside the designated geo.

  • Data protection measures: Data in transit between user devices and Microsoft datacenters is secured. Connections between customers and Microsoft datacenters are encrypted, and all public endpoints are secured using Transport Security Layer (TLS). TLS ensures data confidentiality and integrity between desktops and datacenters. API access from customer endpoints to servers is similarly protected. Currently, TLS 1.2 (or higher) is required for server access.

  • General Data Protection Regulation compliance support: The European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation gives individuals significant rights regarding their data. Refer to the Microsoft Learn General Data Protection Regulation Summary for an overview, including terminology and an action plan. It also includes readiness checklists to help you meet your obligations under General Data Protection Regulation when using Microsoft products and services.

Learn more about General Data Protection Regulation and how Microsoft supports it:

    • The Microsoft Trust Center offers general information and best practices for General Data Protection Regulation compliance. It includes helpful documentation like impact assessments, data request guidelines, and breach notification procedures.
    • The Service Trust portal provides information about how Microsoft services support General Data Protection Regulation compliance.

Accessibility in Microsoft Power Platform

Microsoft values making Power Platform accessible and inclusive for all users worldwide. An accessible canvas app allows users with vision, hearing, and other impairments to use the app successfully.

Accessibility in Power Platform ensures everyone, including those individuals with disabilities, can use its features effectively. Key aspects include:

  • Power BI: Improved table navigation with enhanced keyboard shortcuts and better support for assistive technologies. Users relying on keyboards or screen readers can navigate and understand data more easily.

  • Power Apps: These properties also facilitate keyboard navigation, enabling users to interact with apps without a mouse.

Power Platform meets compliance standards and enhances usability for all users by integrating these accessibility features. This approach ensures that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can interact with and benefit from the platform's capabilities.
