Access Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is available when you sign in with your work account across the web, Microsoft 365 apps, and the Microsoft Edge browser. You get a unified chat experience that’s consistent everywhere—whether you’re in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, or the Copilot app. In the Microsoft 365 apps, simply select the Copilot icon on the ribbon to open or close Copilot Chat, making it easy to access its features no matter where you work.
Web: m365copilot.com
Copilot Chat is available on the web offering a full chat experience.
To access Copilot Chat, launch your preferred web browser and enter m365copilot.com in the address bar to launch the Microsoft 365 Copilot web app (formerly the Microsoft 365 app and office.com). Users with Copilot Chat pinned in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app are redirected to m365.cloud.microsoft/chat which opens the full Copilot Chat interface. Users who don't have Copilot Chat pinned can still access chat in a temporary state at copilot.cloud.microsoft, though it will remain unpinned unless the user actively pins it. Tip
You'll know you're successfully signed in to Copilot Chat when you see the green shield icon next to "New chat" and the Microsoft 365 Copilot icon at the top of the page.
Note
If you aren't signed in with your work account, Enterprise Data Protection doesn't apply.
Microsoft 365 apps
Teams
Copilot Chat is available in Teams on web, Windows, Mac, and mobile, offering a full chat experience.
To access Copilot Chat, launch Teams and select the Copilot icon from the left-side menu bar and the full Copilot Chat interface opens. Alternatively, select the Chat icon from the left-side menu bar and select Copilot at the top of your Teams chat list.
Note
If you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, you may notice that there's a Copilot icon on the top right corner of an open Teams chat or meeting. This opens the Microsoft 365 Copilot in Teams experience, not Copilot Chat. The Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on license gives you access to Microsoft 365 Copilot in Teams, allowing you to summarize or ask questions about a particular Teams chat, meeting or other work-related data.
Outlook
Copilot Chat is available in Outlook on web, Windows, Mac, and mobile. It offers both a full chat experience and a side pane for quick assistance.
To access Copilot Chat, launch Outlook and select the Copilot icon from the left-side menu bar and the full Copilot Chat interface opens. Alternatively, select the Copilot icon from the top-right corner of the ribbon to open the side pane.
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote
Copilot Chat is available in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote on the web, Windows, Mac, and mobile, with access through the side pane only for quick assistance.
To access Copilot Chat, launch any of these apps and select the Copilot icon in the top-right corner of the ribbon to open the side pane.
Microsoft 365 Copilot app (Formerly the Microsoft 365 (Office) app)
Copilot Chat is available through the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, delivering a unified experience across Windows, Mac, and mobile devices.
To access Copilot Chat, install and/or launch the app on your preferred device and select the Copilot icon to open the Copilot Chat interface.
Microsoft Edge browser
Copilot Chat is available in the Microsoft Edge browser, accessible through the side pane for quick assistance.
To access Copilot Chat, launch the Edge web browser on your preferred device and select the Copilot icon in the top-right corner of the toolbar to open the side pane.
Note
Users trying to sign in to copilot.microsoft.com or bing.com/chat with an Entra account are redirected Copilot Chat on the web.
