Exercise - Create a user and assign licenses

In this exercise, you create a user and then assign the required licenses to use the agent that you create in Microsoft Teams. You complete this exercise as the system/user administrator Reed Smith.

  1. In a new InPrivate or Incognito web browsing tab, sign in to Microsoft 365 admin center as Reed Smith.

  2. On the left navigation pane, select Active users. Select the Add a user button.

  3. On the Basics page, add the following users and then select Next:

    • First name – Monica

    • Last name – Rodriguez

    • Display name - Monica Rodriguez

    • Username – Enter your username

    • Clear the Automatically create a password and Require this user to change their password when they first sign in checkboxes and then create an appropriate password.

  4. On the Product licenses page, select Microsoft 365 E3 (no Teams) and Microsoft Teams Enterprise. Now select Next.

  5. On the Optional settings page, select Next.

  6. Select Finish adding.

  7. In a notepad, save the user credentials, which are provided under User details. When you're done, select Close.

  8. Go to Active users and select Reed Smith.

  9. Select the Licenses and apps tab and make sure that all three licenses are selected: Microsoft 365 E3 (no Teams), Microsoft Teams Enterprise, and Microsoft Copilot Studio Viral Trial. If not, select the licenses and then select Save changes.

Congratulations, you successfully created users and assigned the required licenses. Now, you can proceed to the next exercise.
