Simplify workflows and automate tasks with Agents in Copilot Chat

Agents are AI-powered tools that help automate tasks, streamline workflows, and provide intelligent assistance in Copilot Chat. Think of them as apps for Copilot that work alongside you or your team to simplify everyday business processes.

Get started with Agents

Copilot Chat comes with pre-built agents, a set of agent templates to get started with, or you can create custom agents for your own needs.

Note

Agent creation is only available if your organization admin has enabled this capability. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat has both agents that can be used at no additional cost and agents that are billed based on metered consumption.

  1. Pre-Built agents: These are ready-made agents created by Microsoft or your organization for common scenarios. To explore them, click “Get agents” in the right-side menu of Copilot Chat to open the agent library. In the library in left-side menu, click “Built by Microsoft” to view Microsoft-created agents or “Built for your org” to see those created by your organization.

  1. Agent templates: Templates provide you with a quick way to create an agent without having to start from scratch. Click “Create an agent” in the right-side menu of Copilot Chat to open the agent builder. Select one of the agent templates such as Prompt Coach or Writing Coach and customize it to meet your needs. Agents from Microsoft to try today:

    • Prompt Coach: Create effective Copilot prompts
    • Idea Coach: Get brainstorming assistance
    • Writing Coach: Refine your writing
    • Career coach: Get personalized career advice and action plans
    • Learning coach: Learn about topics and refine your skills

  2. Custom Agents: Create your own agent from scratch. Click “Create an agent” in the right-side menu of Copilot Chat to open the agent builder. Start describing what you’d like your agent to do in the prompt box or select “Configure” at the top to further customize it. Creating an agent allows you to connect Copilot Chat to your organization’s shared data to further unlock productivity.
