Database.Alter Method (TimeSpan)

Updates any Database object property changes on the instance of SQL Server.

Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo (in microsoft.sqlserver.smo.dll)

Syntax

'Deklaracja
Public Sub Alter ( _
    transactionTerminationTime As TimeSpan _
)
public void Alter (
    TimeSpan transactionTerminationTime
)
public:
void Alter (
    TimeSpan transactionTerminationTime
)
public void Alter (
    TimeSpan transactionTerminationTime
)
public function Alter (
    transactionTerminationTime : TimeSpan
)

Parameters

  • transactionTerminationTime
    A TimeSpan object value that specifies a period of time to let transactions complete before persisting the property changes with the Alter method.

Remarks

The Alter method updates any changes that have been made to the properties of the Database object since the Database object was created or since the last Alter statement. The modifications are combined and sent to the instance of SQL Server in a single network trip.

Example

'Connect to the local, default instance of SQL Server.
Dim srv As Server
srv = New Server
'Define a Database object variable by supplying the server and the database name arguments in the constructor.
Dim db As Database
db = New Database(srv, "Test_SMO_Database")
'Create the database on the instance of SQL Server.
db.Create()
'Reference the database and display the date when it was created.
db = srv.Databases("Test_SMO_Database")
Console.WriteLine(db.CreateDate)
'Remove the database.
db.Drop()
