IDataReader.FieldCount Property

Gets the number of fields in the data reader.

Property Value

Type: System.Int32
When not positioned in a valid recordset, 0; otherwise the number of columns in the current record. The default value is -1.

Remarks

After executing a query that does not return rows, FieldCount returns -1.
