Engineers from Dassault Systèmes and Microsoft ran benchmarking tests to measure the performance and scalability for ENOVIA V6 with SQL Server 2008. The tests were designed to reflect real-world usage patterns of ENOVIA V6 customers. The benchmarking tests simulated up to 5,000 collaborative users (a number typical for a large enterprise environment).
The transaction times for typical PLM tasks, such as running searches and editing data, were measured.

SQL Server 2008 maintained a consistent average transaction time as the number of users increased, confirming that SQL Server 2008 is a strong choice for the database platform for ENOVIA V6.
As described in Buying a Vehicle vs. Buying a Database Platform when using the Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2008 (unlike some competitor platforms) reliability is not an "added option" as the following High Availability features are included:
- Database Mirroring
- Failover Clustering
- Replication
- Log Shipping
As described in Why Pay More For Less Microsoft SQL Server is the most cost effective Enterprise level database platform and offers:
- Lower cost with advanced features included in the base license
- Lower cost with better multicore licensing
- Lower cost with better user licensing
- Lower cost with better standby server licensing
