Google search Redirects to Yahoo Search - Can't open Google on Edge Chromium

Microsoft Edge Version 89.0.774.57 (Official Build) (64-Bit)

Windows 7

Since today, opening anything related to Google is impossible in Edge Chromium. I had to install a different browser.

Using Google search redirects to Yahoo search like this:

Search term "chromium adress bar search doesn't work" redirects via:

http://www.imgdownmarch.com/?a=gspsg10&q=edge%20chromium%20Address%20bar%20search%20doesn%27t%20work

to

https://de.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=domaindev&hsimp=yhs-delfia&p=edge%20chromium%20Address%20bar%20search%20doesn%27t%20work&type=03\_\_alt\_\_ddc\_nicetab\_live

If I open Google.com via the adress bar and type in any search term I will either be redirected to Yahoo.com which opens in a new tab or simply close the tab without even redirecting.

Default search engine is Google. Every attempt to keep open any google related site like Google images, log in to Google account etc. results either in closing of the tab or in "Requested page not found!"

the adress "http://www.imgdownmarch.com/", that comes up while redirecting is also prompted with "Requested page not found!"

Turning off every extension doesn't help, searching for viruses or malware turned up with nothing.

All other browsers work fine with Google and other search engines.

Does anyone know how to deal with this? Can it be turned off or do I have to reinstall?

I woke up this morning with this problem- type a search in the address bar in Chrome, the search redirects to yahoo. It's only on my account, and my default search engine is still Chrome. Nothing seems to be wrong in the settings.

I just figured out the answer. I have a Chrome extension called "Image Downloader" that I got a couple months ago. I just removed the extension and it seems to have cleared up the problem. The would make sense with the "imgdown" in the address of the redirect.

    I hope this helps!

I had the same issue today. Opened chrome as a Guest, no problem.

I had image download extensions, one of them seems to be causing this redirect. In my case it was the extension.

I recommend updating chrome or whichever browser you use, disabling extensions, clearing cache, restarting computer, then trying to do the search.

If it works, enable extensions one by one and do a search after each one is enabled.

That's what I did and it worked pretty well.

    Cheers

I did. Whatever caused the issue changed the website that was on the option. I think it had been from the update that happened that morning. Reset my browser and I lost all my tabs.
