Edge iPadOS Crashing and Freezing

Greetings,

I am using the latest version of Edge and the latest version of iPadOS. For the most part I am happy with the performance but there are 2 issues I must address. The browser crashes about 2 times a day and also, after opening Several webpages the tabs have a tendency to freeze with the bar at about 90%. The pages are blank after the freeze, even though the progress bar is just about all the way to the right.

I do not lose history after a crash; and when the tabs freeze, I copy the address, go home, paste the address into the bar and open the page.

While the browser is functional, it would be difficult to continue using it with the above issues. Perhaps I have set it up incorrectly or there are options that are incompatible on iPad. Edge version is 45.11.1. iPadOS version is 14.2.

The software is running on an iPad Air 4th generation.

I would like to continue using Edge on the iPad as it is the default browser on my Windows PCs. Help much appreciated.

I am from Canada and would like to wish my American friends a very happy and safe Thanksgiving,

Graham

    Hi Everyone,

I tripped over the issue. I opened: settings > advanced settings > browsing options. 'Open to a new tab page' was selected. I changed the option to 'Continue browsing where I left off'. Pages no longer freeze.

Hope this helps others. If Microsft support pays attention to this forum, they ought to have a look.

    Cheers

    Graham,

i dont have the link but I have a possible solution. I deleted the app, restarted my Ipad, then installed Edge again and now all is working as it should. I have Edge synced with my Windows browswer so everything is back as I had it.

Thanks Dennis and Nikhar. Pages are still freezing. Maybe have to get support involved. This is not acceptable. Am surprised there aren't more folks mentioning this.

Same (but different) issues here: iPad Pro 12,9 2018. iPadOS 14.5.1. Edge Version 46.3.13.

    1. Every now and then the browser won't start. It just shows the main screen and then crashes after about 5 seconds. A restart solves the problem.
    2. Very often Edge is unresponsive while browsing, it won't do anything. After waiting for about 10-15 seconds it goes on until the next stutter occurs.
    3. It won't go back to it's previous page, showing only the sorrow arrow in the middle of the screen for about the same amount of time.
    4. The program often has difficulties loading the rest of the pages, you have to wait for about 3-4 seconds until the next content is loaded.
    5. Today Edge crashed after stuttering very badly and it took the iPad with it. That never happened before.

The browser`s behaviour has been a pain before, but now it is totally unacceptable.

I had to go back to Safari, which, in comparison, runs very smoothly. But then I have the problem with a million duplicate bookmarks. Sigh.
