Deleted channel is still appearing in my team but cannot be accessed or modified

I deleted three channels out of a Team. However, they still show up for me under the team. But when I click on them, it says "there was a problem retrieving your channel," when I try to delete again it says "this channel can't be deleted; try again," and if I manage the team, there are no channels that show up under "deleted channels." I have tried restarting, logging in/out, etc and nothing works. The cache has been refreshed.

It is extremely annoying to me to see these channels appear falsely in the list every time I log in, and apparently there is no option to contact Microsoft for help with this issue besides throwing this question out into the ether, which I have obviously resorted to. Very frustrated, please help.

    Dear Rachel Mouring,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. To resolve this, you can try the following steps:

    1. Since you mentioned that Teams cache has been refreshed, I was wondering whether you have cleared the cache following the stesps in: Clear Teams cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn.
    2. Try deleting the channels again using the Teams desktop app. To do this, right-click on the channel you want to delete and select "Delete channel." If you're still unable to delete the channel, try deleting it from the Teams web app(https://teams.microsoft.com/).
    3. If none of the above steps work, you can try contacting Microsoft support for further assistance since there might be someting wrong at the backend, which caused the deleted channels stuck.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Your patience, understanding and cooperation are much appreciated.

    Sincerely,Sherry | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hi Sherry,

I have a Team with two deleted channels that still appear.

They only appear in the desktop app, not the online app, and they only appear in the Teams view in the list pane on the left side of the screen.

If I go to Manage Team and then to the Channels tab, the channels don't appear there.

If I follow the instructions you linked to, to clear the Teams cache, and go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, the Teams folder there is empty.

I've tried deleting the channels again from both the desktop app but it doesn't work.

    Hope this helps.

    BP

    Hi Sherry,

People at my organization continue to have problems with deleted channels still showing up under the Team on the Desktop App and the Browser App. I've deleted the local cache files and they continue to show up. We also have a similar issue with channels that people used to be a member of, but it is still showing for them. When they click on it the following happens: the channel disappears (temporarily) on the left and an error displays on the right saying you don't have access to this channel. Again, this happens for both the channels that have been deleted and ones where permissions have been removed.

Note: For the person who deleted the channel, the following error is displayed on their App (different from the individuals who did not delete the Channel): "We couldn't restore the channel. Try restoring it again."

I've been able to remove those from my Teams display by Reloading the app on my desktop. Repair does not work. This is an okay solution for me, since I am comfortable with Reloading software on my workstation, but I do not think it is reasonable to perform this action on everyone's workstation that reports it.

Does Microsoft plan on addressing this issue? Perhaps adding a Reload button on the Teams App itself?

I look forward to your response! Thank you!

I have exactly the same problem - Microsoft not being helpful at all. I have seen multiple posts about this but Microsoft seem to be ignoring the issue.

So how do we delete these phantom channels which appear but are not able to be deleted or hidden!?!
