Hi,

recently we see the client freezing after disconnecting a session.
if you try to reconnect to the session or start another session, you get the message that you may not be able to connect because of unsufficient virtual memory.
In the Taskmanager you can see that the process msrdc.exe is still open 2 to 3 minutes after disconnecting.

Is that an known issue which will be targeted? The problem is still present in the newest insider build.

Regards

We have the same Issue. Because the msrdc.exe process lingers for so long it is not possible to start a new session as long as this process is still running. Users will spam the desktop and nothing will happen. Rarely the virtual memory error shows up and kills the msrdc.exe's in the background allowing the user to finaly start the session.

I have the same issue on multiple customer tenants. With Remotedesktop App and Windows App. I hope MS will fix this asap.

We've both customers and internal users with this problem. Spent some time comparing installed updates and noticed that the clients who doesn't have KB2267602 (version 1.417.358.0) installed don't have this problem. Newer versions doesn't seem to fix the problem either.

We've managed to replicate the error multiple times by installing that specific update to the latest version. Rolled back the client to the previous day and everything worked fine up untill installing that KB again.

    Hello,

Did this issue arise after you updated your operating system recently?

This might be one of the known issues identified in the July update that remains unresolved and was included in the cumulative update from August. As a temporary fix, we can uninstall the recent update.

    On server 2022: August 13, 2024—KB5041160 (OS Build 20348.2655) - Microsoft Support

Engineers are currently working on a solution and will release an update in a future patch.

Same issue here, with AVD setups for multiple customers.

Issue seems to be unrelated to the version of AVD Remote Desktop client (or even Windows App).

Only 'workaround' I found so far is to kill the msrdc.exe process using Task Manager. Unfortunately, this is not a valid workaround for most of our end users, as task manager is blocked by GPO for security reasons...
