I have replaced the left earbud; how can I connect it?

My left earbud fell out on the street and couldn't be found. I bought a replacement from a third party. I haven't been able to connect it, unfortunately, despite trying a factory reset and firmware update. The right earbud still works. Is there a solution? If not, I'd like to understand the problem. Thanks.

    Hi Peak_man,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Replacement for the earbuds are sold by pair. We really don't support replacement earbuds from a third party vendor. I would recommend to contact our live support team to process a replacement for your Surface earbuds. You may reach them through the numbers listed in Global Customer Service phone numbers (microsoft.com) under For Business users. This also works with Home users , just select Surface then Home as a type of user in the IVR prompt. You may also reach them through this page: Contact - Microsoft Support.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

Thank you for the reply, although it sounds as though I am just being told to buy new earbuds.

I would still be interested in understanding why two earbuds that were not originally sold as a pair cannot be made to work together.

May I know where did you purchase the Surface earbuds? it would be more helpful if you can provide us a photo of the earbuds.

The original earbuds were supplied directly by Microsoft in April 2021 (when I purchased a Surface Laptop 4). The replacement left earbud came from another vendor. A photo is attached, showing the original case and right earbud, and the replacement left earbud.

    Thanks.

Earbuds are not sold individually. We do not recommend to replace Microsoft Surface earbuds from a third party vendor. If you wish to have a working earbuds contact our live support team or you can check your Microsoft account for the options.
