Cursor Speed Slows Down Using Edge on Mac OS Monterey

I am having a weird issue with the cursor speed slowing down when using Edge on Mac OS Monterey.

My job requires that I work both in Mac and Windows operating systems. I have Microsoft Edge set up as my default browser for both, which allows me to access my bookmarks and collections across both operating systems. On the Mac OS side, I am using a MacBook Pro 16" with M1 Max chipset running Monterey 12.6. For my mouse, I am using a Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac with Logi Options software installed on the Mac. The mouse is connected to the MacBook via bluetooth.

Because I have the Mac connected to two external monitors with the MacBook screen open, I've adjusted the cursor movement for high speed / acceleration so that I can easily move the cursor across all screens with minimal movement of the mouse. This works fine so long as the active application or window is anything OTHER THAN Edge. However, once the active application / window is Edge, the cursor speeds slows down, not responding per the faster settings.

I have tested this with Chrome and Safari. There are no issues with a change in cursor speed when those browsers are the active application or window. I have tried this with other client applications such as Adobe products and 365 office products. No issue with cursor speed when they are the active application. But the moment Edge becomes the active / selected application, it slows cursor speed / acceleration for everything until some other application is selected.

So Microsoft... what's the fix? I prefer not to switch browsers.

Hi Davey. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Have you tried to reset or reinstall Edge on Mac?

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

    Davey -

Where are the results of the steps I took my time to carefully write out for you that work for most others? I am standing by here to help you further, but I need to know the specific results so I know what else to try.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

Hi Mike, thanks for the initial reply. As a long time tech user, I am pretty accustomed to the fact that whenever there is a problem, one tries to reset or reinstall. I had done both, already and no luck. I had also uninstalled and reinstalled Logitech Options. I should have mentioned that in my original post.

We're limited to those on a Mac because it isn't a Windows PC so doesn't have the repair capabilities that Windows has for it's apps.

If you want to report this to Edge Developers you can choose the Edge Hub (three dots to right of URL address bar) then Help & Feedback, then Feedback form to fill out. They may not even see it here.

Mike, I think I found a solution. Edge is still the outlier, but what I did was uninstall Logitech Options and NOT reinstall it. That means I lose some of the customization available with my Logitech devices, but that is fine. Now, the cursor behaves consistently across all applications to include edge.

It may be that Logitech Options cursor speed settings were conflicting with Mac OS' native mouse settings and Edge defaulted Mac OS whereas the other apps responded to Logitech.

    Thanks for your help.
