Thanks for being so patient with me.

The upgrade failing at 56% indicates a persistent system corruption or hardware-level conflict that repair tools cannot fully resolve, likely due to compromised core components or driver instability. Since in-place upgrades and repairs have been exhausted, a clean installation is the only reliable method to eliminate these issues. Your Windows 10 digital license is embedded in the hardware or linked to your Microsoft account. During a clean installation of Windows 11 from USB media, skip entering a product key when prompted. After installation, Windows will automatically activate using the existing license, as both versions share the same activation database for eligible devices.

Before proceeding, back up all personal data to an external drive, as the clean install will erase everything on the system drive. Boot from the USB media, delete all partitions on the target drive during setup to ensure a pristine installation, and then allow Windows 11 to install on the unallocated space. This approach bypasses any residual corruption and establishes a stable system.

Hope you've found something useful here, and kindly accept the answer if it helps you solve the issue to some extent. Thank you!!

There is some light from the DISM failure, specifically with 0x80070002, it means a critical corruption in the Windows Component Store or system files that prevents the servicing stack from functioning, which explains why both Windows Update and the Media Creation Tool failed. Given the identical PC upgraded successfully, we should now focus on local system integrity.

First, run System File Checker from an elevated command prompt using sfc /scannow. If it reports corrupted files but can't repair them, the DISM failure is blocking the repair. To circumvent this, you must use an external source for DISM. Download the Windows 11 ISO matching your current edition (e.g., from Microsoft's website), mount it, and execute DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:X:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess, replacing "X" with the mounted drive letter. This command bypasses the corrupted local cache by pulling clean files from the ISO.

If DISM succeeds, reboot and reattempt the upgrade using the Media Creation Tool. If DISM still fails, the system may have deeper issues such as storage driver conflicts or firmware problems. Check for updated chipset and storage drivers from your motherboard manufacturer, and ensure UEFI/BIOS settings like Secure Boot and TPM are enabled. As a last resort, back up data and perform a clean installation via bootable USB, which eliminates persistent software corruption.

1-I run System File Checker from an elevated command prompt using sfc /scannow , but not find error

2-i download from microsoft site Win11_25H2_Italian_x64.iso and i mount it on with drive "V"

3-I execute command DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:V:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess, but i receive the same old error n°2 (see the log)

Your DISM failure is no longer about missing source files. The log shows DISM cannot spawn dismhost.exe at all. When the servicing host process cannot launch, every DISM operation fails immediately with 0x80070002 regardless of source. That isolates the fault to the OS environment, not the update payload.

A servicing host launch failure is triggered by one of four conditions:

The dismhost.exe binary or its manifests are damaged or mismatched. They reside under C:\Windows\System32\Dism and WinSxS. Even if SFC reports no violations, it can miss component store breaks in WinSxS identity metadata. This prevents COM activation of the servicing host.

Permissions on %windir%\Temp or the user Temp path have been altered. DISM attempts to stage its host under your user temp directory. If ACLs are wrong, the host can't be created and returns 0x80070002. Verify that the user profile’s Temp and the system Temp directories grant full access to SYSTEM, Administrators, and your account.

A third-party security product, including endpoint protection, anti-tampering modules, or sandboxing tools, is blocking process creation of dismhost.exe. These products hook process creation and frequently interfere with DISM specifically. Temporarily disabling or uninstalling them is the only way to rule this out; disabling via UI is sometimes insufficient because kernel drivers remain active.

Corruption or misconfiguration inside the Component Based Servicing (CBS) stack. When CBS’s internal registry hive or servicing stack files are damaged, DISM fails at process initialization before any image work starts. This is the same layer that Windows Update relies on, which explains both the update loop and the DISM failure.

You can't repair this system from inside the running OS because all repair tools depend on CBS and dismhost.exe. The only viable recovery path is an in-place repair installation launched from outside the corrupted servicing environment.

Boot from the Windows 11 installation media you already downloaded. Choose “Repair your computer”, then run Startup Repair once to clear boot and servicing metadata. After that, boot normally into Windows and start setup.exe from the mounted ISO to perform an in-place upgrade. When setup runs from full boot and not from WinRE, it bypasses DISM’s local host creation and uses its own servicing stack packaged in the install media.

If setup launched from inside Windows still fails, you have a CBS registry or WinSxS identity corruption so severe that only a clean install can reestablish a functional servicing stack. In that state, no command-line repair, no DISM source override, and no troubleshooter can succeed because the servicing host itself cannot be instantiated.

Proceed directly to the external in-place upgrade. If that cannot initialize, perform the clean installation.

    • I reset the permissions on %windir%\Temp path
    • I Boot from the Windows 11 installation USB media and choose “Repair your computer”, then run Startup Repair, and after i choose "comman prompt", and run "sfc /scannow. It found and resolve some problem of protection of windows resource.
    • After that, I boot normally into Windows and start setup.exe from the USB media, bat it stop upgrade @ 56%
    • Tomorro i try to make a clean install, but what can i do to replace the license of actual W10?
